Energy, Society, and Sustainable Development
Περιγραφή μαθήματος
The Energy, Society, and Sustainable Development module explores the interface between these aspects in addressing and understanding energy poverty alleviation at both global and local levels. The module, therefore, explores the complex interplay between energy systems, societal dynamics, and sustainable development goals within the context of energy poverty alleviation. Students will examine energy access and utilisation's social, economic, and environmental dimensions, critically analysing policies, technologies, and practices to achieve sustainable energy solutions. Students will gain insights into the challenges and opportunities of transitioning towards equitable and sustainable energy systems through interdisciplinary perspectives and case studies. In general, the module is designed to develop critical, analytical, interpretative, integrative, and presentation skills to enable the students to understand the complex nexus between energy, society, and sustainable development in the current realm of a changing climate and environment. Consequently, the associated perspectives concerning the relationships between humans, energy, and the environment will be clearly understood under the sustainable development framework.
