The Tackling Global-Local Challenges in Ethics module explores the ethical dimensions of addressing energy poverty through technology interventions at both global and local levels. Students will examine ethical frameworks, principles, and dilemmas related to the development, deployment, and impact of energy poverty alleviation technologies. Students will also learn about the tension between universal ethical norms and cultural relativism. In addition, this module will also examine the role of corporations, local communities and governments in addressing global-local ethical challenges. Students will be encouraged to critically evaluate how cultural values shape ethical perspectives and consider how to navigate these differences in a global context. Through case studies, ethical analyses, and interactive discussions, students will critically evaluate technology interventions' social, environmental, and cultural implications, considering diverse perspectives and ethical considerations. The module aims to equip students with the ethical awareness and analytical skills to navigate complex ethical challenges in energy poverty alleviation initiatives.
